Drive-in Cinema – Grease PG13

Get in gear, film fans! Join in the first Roehampton Club Drive-In Cinema and re-live the magic of the American drive-in movies in the Members’ Car Park! This drive-in showing of Grease the classic musical for the whole family, is the perfect post-lockdown treat to enjoy with refreshments served to your car. Gates will open at 7.30pm for the film to start at 9pm, food and drinks will be available on pre-order. £35 per car, numbers limited.

In the Shadow of the Abbey, a Virtual Tour with London guide Rosalind Vincent

Monday 7th June at 6.30pm – free online event

Delve into the quiet back streets behind Westminster Abbey, and you will be treated to a world of charm and architectural delights. Join Member and London guide Rosalind Vincent, as she opens your eyes to these hidden gems and talks about some of the colourful characters remembered here. This will be a relaxed and friendly virtual event with plenty of time for questions and conversation. More information here

Live Lounge – Series Three

The Live Lounge is a series of free virtual musical performances streamed live via zoom for you to enjoy in the comfort of your own home with a delicious takeaway meal from the Roehampton Club Kitchen. Each performance lasts about one hour.

Sofia Kirwan-Baez – Thursday 27th May at 6.30pm

Anglo-Venezuelan soprano, Sofia is a seasoned piano lounge singer and has often been described as a versatile and flexible musician. She specialises in impromptu requests and her eclectic upbringing has enabled her to encounter a wide range of musical worlds. She will have you traveling through your musical past and present, and wondering where she will go next!    

Paul Booth – Wednesday 2nd June at 6.30pm

Prize-winning saxophonist, Paul Booth has continually refined his talents as a solo artist, composer, arranger and bandleader, while establishing a reputation as the in-demand sax man on today’s music scene. Paul has worked around the world with musicians including Steve Winwood, The Eagles, Eric Clapton, Steely Dan, Carlos Santana, Van Morrison, Chaka Khan, Kylie Minogue, Jamiroquai, and many more. Paul will entertain us with a selection of his own jazz and world music inspired compositions, some jazz standards and his take on songs borrowed from popular music.

Karl Lutchmayer – Friday 18th June, 6.30pm

We are pleased to welcome back Karl Lutchmayer for his third recital in our Live Lounge Series. Karl will play a new programme featuring music by Beethoven, Liszt and Prokofiev. A Steinway Artist, Karl is also a passionate advocate of contemporary music, and has given over 90 world premieres and had many works written especially for him. He has worked with conductors including Lorin Maazel and Sir Andrew Davis and has performed at all major London concert halls.

Live Lounge Performance, Aoife Ni Bhriain

On Thursday 20th May, we were fortunate to listen to the wonderfully talented violinist Aoife Ni Bhriain, the first performance in our Live Lounge Series Three. Members were captivated by her playing, her versatility and loved the wealth of knowledge Aoife knew about the background and history of her music.
