Chief Executive’s Message

As I write my first full monthly message since joining Roehampton Club in late June, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on what has been a truly enjoyable and inspiring start.

From day one, I have been made to feel incredibly welcome by Members and staff alike. The warmth, support and enthusiasm I have experienced across the Club has been remarkable. Whether meeting Members around the grounds, attending events, watching sport or simply spending time getting to know the community, I have been struck by the genuine affection people have for Roehampton Club and everything it represents.

I have also been hugely impressed by the passion, professionalism and commitment of our staff. Their pride in the Club and dedication to creating exceptional experiences for Members shines through every day. It has reinforced my belief that Roehampton Club is a very special place, built not only on its outstanding facilities and rich heritage, but also on the people who bring it to life.

As we continue our 125th anniversary year, there is a tremendous sense of momentum and excitement throughout the Club. We have much to celebrate from our history, but even more to look forward to. I am excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to meeting many more of you over the coming months as we continue to build on the Club’s proud legacy together.

Indoor Golf Centre Update

One of the projects that many Members have spoken to me about since my arrival is the new Indoor Golf Centre. Affectionately known as the IGC, I am delighted to report that the development remains on schedule.

This exciting investment reflects our commitment to continually enhancing the Member experience and ensuring our facilities remain among the very best. The Indoor Golf Centre will provide a state-of-the-art indoor practice and coaching environment, enabling golfers of all abilities to work on their game throughout the year, whatever the weather.

We are particularly excited about the opportunities the facility will create for coaching, player development and more flexible practice opportunities for Members. The new centre represents an important step forward for golf at Roehampton Club, and I know there is great anticipation amongst Members as we move closer to completion. We look forward to sharing further updates as the project progresses.

Capturing Our 125th Anniversary Celebrations

One of the great pleasures of marking our 125th anniversary has been seeing so many Members enjoying the programme of events and celebrations throughout the year.

Over recent months, Charlie Round-Turner has been documenting these memorable occasions, capturing the spirit and community that make Roehampton Club so special.

The photographs have now been uploaded to the Club’s Flickr account and are available for Members to view and download. I encourage you to take a look and revisit some of the wonderful moments we have shared together.

Just for Juniors

The autumn programme promises plenty of activity for our younger Members. Alongside Monkey Music workshops for our youngest families, we will be welcoming back many popular activities, including dodgeball, cricket, diving, Fun 4 Kids sessions and water polo.

Providing engaging opportunities for Junior Members remains an important part of Club life, and there is something for every age group to enjoy this season.

Celebrating Sporting Heritage

As part of our 125th anniversary celebrations, Roehampton Club has continued to play host to several prestigious events.

In July, we were proud to welcome competitors and guests for the Centenary MacRobertson Shield, hosting the opening ceremony and a number of matches.

The occasion held special significance as the competition returned to the Club where it all began over a century ago. Roehampton hosted the inaugural international Test match between England and Australia in 1925, and it was fitting to celebrate both that history and the centenary of this distinguished event.

We were also delighted to host the Association of Centenary Tennis Clubs (CTC) 35+/45+ International Competition in July.

Teams from Barcelona, Berlin and Biarritz joined Roehampton for a wonderful weekend of high-quality tennis on our grass courts.

The event showcased both the sporting excellence and hospitality for which the Club is renowned.

My congratulations go to Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899, who narrowly defeated Roehampton Club 5-4 in a thrilling final.
