Based on the response rate, these results are statistically significant to a 95% confidence level with a 2% margin of error. That is to say, if we ran the survey 20 more times, in 19 (95%) of those instances we would expect the results to be the same, within a +/- 2% margin. A report grouping the subject of the reservations has been made for the Golf Committee and the Board to review.
The Board of Directors met on Thursday 11th December to consider the result and has given its approval to proceed. It has also asked for a IGC Project Oversight Committee to be formed consisting of Members with expertise and staff to start working closely with the project manager – Sports Clubhouses – to set the ball rolling and look to award the contract to the lowest and best value tender as outlined in the consultation paper.
The Board will ensure that all the comments made by Members are considered carefully by the Project Team and the IGC Oversight Committee will be working hard to ensure disruption to the Club is minimised during the work programme.
Provisional timetable
The outline timetable will be to start erecting the safety fence to the right of the first tee in March so that works can start in April after the Gold Cup Pro-am, Gold Cup and Centenary Putter weekend. With works scheduled to last 40 weeks it is hoped that the new IGC will open in Q1 2027.
The Golf Committee and the Board are pleased that Members have comprehensively supported their wish to invest in an Indoor Golf Centre for golfers and non-golfers alike and thank all Members who have given their views.
