Chief Executive’s Message

Dear Member,

Water leak works

I regret to say that progress has been slow in diverting the mains water pipe on the golf practice ground to fix the leak and prevent it recurring in the future. We hope the new pipe connection can be made early next week and finished by Friday 21st November. Members are asked to play the 1st hole as a shortened hole this weekend and next week please and we thank everyone for their patience.

Indoor Golf Centre (IGC)

The tenders for the one tier IGC have been received by the Board with the lowest figure being £2.96m including VAT, fees and contingency. The Board’s Finance Committee has approved, on that figure, we can afford to proceed next year. The Board has agreed to consult all adult Members and the consultation document is being finalised by the Golf Committee as we hope to send it out next week. Once those results are in the Board will discuss with Golf Committee and make a final decision.

New Padel Courts

We have submitted a pre-planning application to Wandsworth Council to discuss where five new padel courts can be located with a cover. We are awaiting a confirmation date but fingers crossed we can meet before Christmas and gain guidance on the next step to futureproof padel tennis at the Club.

Bistro evenings

Our chef and service teams have been receiving well-earned praise for the Portuguese menu. We are continuing the Thursday and Friday Bistro evenings through to Christmas with the exception of a few evenings where we are hosting large events.

Book to attend one of the remaining 2025 Bistro evenings, plan a Club Sunday Lunch with family and friends or book for dinner in the new Members’ Bar or Terrace to use up any remaining 2025 Annual Levy. Book at Reception or give the team a call on 020 8480 4200.

Head Chef Kevin is working on a French-themed menu for the January Bistro evenings so look out for those dates.

Men’s Choir

This is your chance to join the Men’s Choir to rival our very successful Ladies’ Choir. Anna Boucher will guide you through the repertoire on a Friday morning. Please click here for more information

Member Reg Bamford has won his sixth Association Croquet World Championship showing he is one of the all time greats to play the game. He is also a two-time winner of the World Golf Croquet Championship.

The Club has committed to buy the first swing trainer designed by Reg himself so our Members can see the secret of his success and practice accordingly!

Lloyd Glasspool-  2025 World No 1 , Joe Salisbury and Henry Patten

Member Lloyd Glasspool with British partner Julian Cash has been confirmed as year-end World No 1 Men’s Doubles player this week in Turin. This wonderful achievement follows Joe Salisbury achieving the same feat in 2022.

Joe and Henry Patten are still playing in the end of season ATP Finals this weekend as they all battle it out to win the end of year World Finals Crown.

We could have at least three of our Members playing in the Men’s Doubles Final on Sunday which no other Club could boast. All matches are being shown in the Members’ Bar and Club Café.

Art Exhibition and Sale

If you haven’t already seen it, please head to the annual Art Exhibition and Sale to be inspired and maybe purchase a unique Christmas gift. Art work by our talented Members is on view upstairs in the Clubhouse, the Reading Room and the Health Club. Please click here for more details
