Bar Service

With the weather slowly improving and the garden and terrace getting busier, we will continue to offer table service on the terrace but kindly ask that if you are seated in the garden area that you come to the bar to place your order.

New in the Members Bar

New guest ale from The Kingston Brewery, Kill Cat available until end July

We have also introduced two 0% alcohol gins alongside Lucky Saint 0%  and Heineken 0% and over the next couple of weeks a selection of cocktails will be launched.

Halfway Hut (HWH)

We had offered Dropshot Coffee the chance to provide a coffee and snacks service at the HWH on a trial basis from April to June. The three busiest days on the golf course were selected for the trial – Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday.

The Club bore the cost of providing a generator to provide electricity for Dropshot to operate. Dropshot would provide the staff and take all the income. The grab-and-go coffees, teas, pastries etc was well received but golfers generally were reluctant to purchase on a regular basis.

Unfortunately, even with the owner, Member Ed Savitt, staffing the service the takings were so low that he felt it wasn’t worth his while continuing. The final straw for him was a Wednesday morning in late April when 85 golfers came through and only two coffees were bought.

Therefore, we have returned to proving cordials, tea and a flask of coffee which is topped during the day for Members at no charge.

This seems to be the overwhelming popular option and will continue for the foreseeable future.

PS, Please use your reusable cups for your choice of refreshment at the HWH to cut down on the use of disposable cups.

Clubhouse Etiquette

You are kindly reminded that the use of mobile phones and other devices for calls are not permitted in the Club Café or other dining areas.

Please can we also remind you that the use of laptops is not permitted in the Members Bar, and we would appreciate that during busy times in the café you also avoid using them

A gentle reminder that children under the age of 16 are not permitted in the Members Bar but are more than welcome in the Piano Bar and on the bar terrace.  Please do not let your children constantly walk/run through the bar from the terrace to the café for their safety while staff are carrying food and drink around the area.

All sports bags must be left outside the club café and Members Bar, in your locker or in your car to allow easy of movement for members and staff around these areas.

Please can we also remind you that the wearing of sports caps is not permitted in the Clubhouse

We thank you for your respect of fellow Members who wish to sit quietly in this mixed-use area and support for staff in managing this.

New Coffee

If you haven’t yet tried our new coffee from Coffee Bay, please come and try it.  Members have said it’s the best coffee they’ve ever had at the Club.  The beans are hand roasted in their local Surbiton roastery and Darius their fabulous Barista has been passing his skills onto our team.  Choose your favourite – perhaps flat white with oat milk, or a decaf latte.

Mothering Sunday Carvery, 27th March

We were sold out for our traditional Mothering Sunday Carvery on 27th March, with over 35 mums enjoying precious time with their families and a delicious selection of foods.  A beautiful harpist set the scene for a relaxed and a peaceful afternoon.

Here’s what you said:

‘The event itself is excellent. Lovely to see families dining together. In these Covid times it was also excellent to see how far apart the tables had been placed and that the window vents were open to allow a stream of fresh air. Well done everyone.’

‘All staff were excellent, friendly and polite, the food was very good!’

‘We had a large party of oldies and kiddies and two disabled ladies. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating with a high chair and booster seat and plastic cups and straws. Staff very attentive and we all loved the harpist music. Nice touch.’
