Chief Executive’s Message

Members Bar Opening Tomorrow

I am pleased to say that the refurbished Members Bar will be open from 11am tomorrow Friday 9th May!

All adult Members can use the Bar as well as Juniors aged 12 and over as long as they are always supervised by their parents /guardians. Adults accompanied by children aged 11 and under should use the Club Café for eating and drinking please. Access to and exit from the Bar is only via the Club Café or the back stairs coming up from the changing rooms until the second stage of the refurbishment is completed.

This completes the first stage of the rooms’ refurbishment project and the second stage – functions rooms refurbishment – is on track to be opened on Sunday 25th May for the Magic Carvery which is sold out.

The third phase – Bridge Room and Garden Room bar refurbishment – will be completed at the end of June and the final phase – the Bar Terrace extension – will be completed in early August.

We have installed a marquee in the gardens to house Member and section events with heaters when necessary which has been well received.

The works for these phases will be ongoing through the summer so Members are asked to be patient please with regard to any noise and disruption that may inconvenience them while using the Club.

Gardens, golf course and grass courts look spectacular

Peter Bradburn and his gardens team have been congratulated on the colourful display of flowers all around the Club and on the golf course.

Many Members have expressed their delight at seeing them providing a welcome contrast to the scaffolding and building works. The golf course is in excellent condition and looking a picture as are the grass courts carefully prepared by Chris Hughes and his team.

We are blessed in having such skilled and experienced operators in Head Greenkeeper David Howe and Grounds Manager Chris Hughes led and co-ordinated by Peter Bradburn.

Davis Cup Centenary at Roehampton Club

Speaking of our grass courts, Club Archivist Steve Riedlinger has found that we hosted the Davis Cup here 100 years ago when Roehampton Club‘s courts were used as a top venue alternative to the AELTC.
