Chief Executive’s Message

Dear Member,

It is pleasing to see the Club being actively used in most areas as summer has decided to begin. We are eagerly awaiting the Government to advise on the relaxation of Covid secure regulations from 21st June. Fingers crossed that the rise of the Indian variant doesn’t scupper those plans.

Can I ask Members to continue to be vigilant and keep their distance and wear face coverings where requested. Two staff have had to isolate this week as they have been in contact with people infected with Covid. Staff continue to be tested twice a week to try and minimise the chance of catching and spreading Covid-19.

Operational Updates

Our new outdoor exercise areas have been well received as some Members prefer to remain outside for their activities. We are calling the artificial grass area underneath the Bridge Room the Lime Tree Lawn – recognising the impressive lime tree there. Plans are afoot for hosting children’s activities there during half term as well as adult classes.

Gym classes move to one hour duration

Due to increased demand, while still keeping the Gym Covid-19 secure, we feel we can now move to one hour Gym sessions from Tuesday 1st June – for more details on how this will work please click here for the Health Club update and here for the Fitness Class update.

With the May half term starting next week please find the swimming pool timetables here:

Padel Tennis is fast becoming the new trendy sport to be playing for the whole family.

The new courts located at the back of the Club gardens are busy throughout the day. Please book on to the introductory classes or the social sessions to learn how to play and to book a court. The courts are floodlit through to 9pm and one is covered to protect you from the elements.

This drive-in showing of Grease the classic musical for the whole family, is the perfect post-lockdown treat to enjoy with refreshments served to your car. Art Group

It’s good to see the Beginners and Improvers Drawing and Painting classes starting up again in the autumn – they are the perfect, friendly, confidence-building class, if you’ve not done any art before or your skills are a bit rusty.

The classes have proved to be incredibly popular and if you would like to hear directly from the students click here to watch their latest video.

For more information including classes timetable and syllabi, visit the Art Classes page of the Members’ website.

Honorary Member

Congratulations to long standing Member Thomas Tait who will be celebrating his 100th birthday on 31st May. The Board has written to offering him Honorary Membership of the Club to start from 1st June 2021 and we hope he is able to come and celebrate here with friends next week now the sunshine has returned.

AGM 22nd June 2021

Members should have received the notice of the AGM, their copy of the 2020 Annual Report and Accounts with a letter from the Chairman and a proxy form. We hope that the AGM can take place with Members present but we are also planning that the Government may alter its guidance on 14th June. If you feel uncomfortable in attending the AGM in person to vote please complete the proxy form and send it into the Club. If we have to plan to conduct the AGM and Q and A online we will inform Members in due course.

Best wishes,
Marc
