GUIDANCE FOR GYM USE – update 19 August 2020
Welcome back to the gym
We will operate a strict booking system to ensure a Covid-19 safe operation and service for Members and staff. This approach has worked well for the introduction of Outdoor Pool and other sports at the Club following Lockdown.
Our operation will be reviewed regularly and can be extended when further guidelines permit.
We ask that all Members continue to respect the social distancing guidelines and Club policy to ensure the safety of Members, their guests and staff at the Club.
What times will the gym open?
The gym will be open from 6.30am–8pm Monday to Friday and 7.30am–8pm on Saturday and Sundays, this will be reviewed regularly.
Will I need to book to use the gym?
Yes, due to governing body guidelines we will restrict access to a maximum of 20 Members in the gym at any one time. We will therefore be operating 45-minute sessions (with a 15 minute cleaning and sanitising window after each session). Sessions can be booked online via the ‘book studio and pool classes’ link on the Members website or by calling Reception on 020 8480 4200.
Bookings will be available up to 3 days in advance and will open at 6.30am each day, this will be extended in due course.
Will equipment be restricted on the gym floor to maintain social distancing?
Yes, we will be turning off every other piece of cardio kit and will have to restrict numbers in the free weight and functional zone areas. Some kit will also be removed from the gym floor if it cannot be easily sanitised in-between use.
Will Members still be able to have personal training sessions?
Yes, Members can still book PT sessions with their trainer. PT sessions will continue to be for 1 hour. We will also be offering outdoor and virtual PT sessions so please speak to your trainer about these or email Emily Hurse Emily.firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Can I book in a re-programme?
Yes, we would encourage all Members that have not be very active over the lockdown period to book in a re-programme with a trainer and ask that they ease their way back into using the gym and studio facilities. There will be staff to speak to if you have any questions or concerns about using the gym again.
Programme cards will be available to collect and keep if required.
Will there be Junior Gym sessions?
Yes, Juniors will be able to use the gym with an adult Members supervising them between 2-6pm every day.
Cleaning and sanitising equipment
We will require EVERY Member to clean EVERY piece of equipment after use to ensure every piece of kit and equipment is sanitised for the next Member to use. Antibacterial Wipes, sanitiser spray and paper towels will be provided in all areas of the gym and studios.
How will I access the gym?
Members must queue outside the main Health Club. A Concierge will check you in and allow access to the gym. Please do not arrive at the Health Club entrance until 5 minutes before your booked session time.
Will the air conditioning be on in the gym?
Yes, we have sanitised our air conditioning system and will ensure fresh air is regularly circulated in the gym and studios by our air handling system.
Will the changing rooms be open?
No, Government guidelines do not permit us to open the changing rooms currently. We therefore ask Members to arrive ‘gym ready’ and shower and change at home afterwards. Please do not bring any personal belongings onto the gym floor or into the studios, other than your mobile phone, membership card, keys or medication as there will be nowhere to store this.
Will there be a toilet available?
Yes, the toilets and wash hand basins will be available in the changing rooms, but all other areas will remain closed.
Will there be towels available?
No, we are asking Members to bring their own sweat towels please.
Will the Juice Bar and Poolside Barbecue be open?
No, due to the restricted access these areas will remain closed. Members can purchase food and drink from the Piazza Pop Up refreshment trailer in the or from the Club Café or Members Bar.
Will the gym water fountains be operational?
Yes, Members can use the water fountain in the Free Weight area, but we ask that this is sanitised before and after use. The water fountain by the stretch area will not be in use. There will be no paper available so please bring your own water bottle (or collect your free one from Reception if you haven’t already).
Can I bring guests into the gym with me?
No, currently access is for Members only.
Can I book a pool session after my gym booking?
No, while we are operating with restricted access and numbers, we ask that Members only make one Health Club booking per day. This will be reviewed on a regular basis.
