Individual successes

February has seen the continued success of various Roehampton Club Members.

Hannah Klugman was the winner of the 12&U International in Auray. Auray is considered one of the top two junior events alongside the Orange Bowl so Hannah is currently regarded as the Number 1, 12&U Girl in the world. She won the final 6-4 6-3 in front of a crowd of 1,300 people where she beat her American opponent. The match can be viewed on YouTube at www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyGzlNpr7Go

Arthur Fery has risen to Number 12 in the world 18&U after winning the singles and runner up of the doubles at a Grade 1 event in Russia. Arthur is now firmly British Number 1 Junior player and will be competing at Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the coming months.

Martha Ground was crowned National 10&U Champion in Norwich. Martha has now risen to Number 1 in the 10&U Rankings and will be playing in the Grade 1 National Tour event at the NTC this weekend.

Matthew Ground was winner at the Regional Tour event in Bromley rising to 30 in the UK for 12&U age group.

Lloyd Glasspool has continued his rise up the ATP doubles rankings to 170 in the world after picking up victories in an ITF event in California and making the final of an ATP challenger in Ohio.

The team tennis season is starting in early April and Roehampton Club Members will be lucky enough to see some of the best national and world tennis players represent the club on selective Sunday afternoons so keep a look out for upcoming fixtures.

Mini Tennis Matchplay Half-term Winners

One of the reasons that Roehampton Club has such successful junior teams is down to the regular internal competition we offer within the junior programme. Once juniors can serve and rally consistently, we encourage them to start an additional weekly matchplay (8&U, 9&U and 10&U) sessions which teach them the game of tennis. We currently have over 40 juniors attending the mini matchplay programme. The following juniors have excelled over the term and won the most matches this half of term.

8&U Red Ball – Bear Balfour-Poole

9&U Orange Ball – Lola Brown

10&U Green Ball – Frankie Odoni
