Squash Scene

Currently there are no updates on a return to full normality for squash, there is hope from July of a phased return as we are starting to see in other countries.

Example will be: Solo practice / 1-to-1 Social Distance coaching / Coach supervised social distance routines for two Members.

It will not be the exciting big draw that squash offers with competition combined with social aspect – but we hope this is the start of the return and a great way to ease you back onto court.

Until then …

I have come up with some alternative activities for the ‘Squashies’:

Tennis Leagues for squash players

Rather than run the Squash Leagues through the summer this July to September I will organise a Tennis Singles’ League for those who would like some fun.
You must have eligible Club membership to play tennis. Sorry no Other Sports Members.
Courts can be booked in line with current Club booking process.
Ideally matches are to be played on grass courts during the weekdays or bookable on the day at weekends.
Please email me to sign up by 1st July, with a rough guide to your standard if known. I will then circulate the leagues and format.

Tennis Club Night for squash players

On Tuesday 4th August from 5:30pm to 8pm there will be a ‘Squashers’ Tennis Club Night on the grass tennis courts. In the event of rain, the Club Night Special will be rescheduled.

Due to Covid-19 there are restriction on the number of players able to attend. Players must sign up – if you would like to play please let me know via email by noon on Wednesday 29th July.

*If we are oversubscribed time slots may be implemented to accommodate as many members as possible.

 Squash Golfers Club Day

For Members who qualify there will be a weekly ‘Thursday Squash Golfers 9-hole Stableford’

You must have eligible Club Membership to play golf. Sorry no guest fees for Tennis or Other Sports Members.

Members must book a tee time and can play at any time, any Thursday between July and September.

In keeping with the new golf guidelines, players must score their playing partner’s round. On completion of the 9-holes send a photo of the card to me and their playing partner. Do not swap cards.

I will set up an email and WhatsApp group for those keen to be involved with ‘Squashers’ Golf Club Day and email/send round scores to make it fun once a week for those who play.

Please email by 1st July if you wish to be included on the email / WhatsApp and provide best contact details.

We will run a series of internal competitions i.e.: Best score, most improved score etc.

Fun Golf Pairs Knockout Competition

18-hole match-play knockout competition with a plate competition for the first round losers.
Players/Pairs – to sign up via email to me, together or individually.

Matches to be played between July and September. Final will be in September on a date tbc.
Please email me to sign up by 1st July, with your handicap and playing partner if known. I will then circulate the draw and format.

By signing up you are consenting to us making your contact details available to other Members for the purposes of contacting you in relation to competition.  If you do not want your details to be available for such purposes you must inform me directly. Your personal details will only be used in accordance with the Club’s privacy policy, a copy of which has been provided to Members and which can also be seen on the Club’s website.
