Halloween 2020

With the current situation with Covid-19, we had to be inventive to be able to entertain children for Halloween this year.

As we were unable to have our annual ever-popular Halloween Workshop, we decided to provide all that we usually do in a box for children to take home. A box full of activities and lots of spooky bits and bobs; together with fun recipes to cook with your little ones.

Also, for the first time at the Club to celebrate Halloween, we organised a pumpkin carving competition. Drawings made by your children were beautifully carved by Peter Bradburn, our Course & Grounds Manager, to create a beautiful display of pumpkins at the entrance of the Clubhouse.  It’s the beginning of a new tradition for Roehampton Club!

The ‘winners’ are Sophia and Penelope Pulley, Alessandra Dupont-Liot, Bayley Goodman, Freddie and Imogen Reed-Sperrin.

Virtual Q&A with Boris Becker

On Tuesday 20th October, we had our first Virtual Q&A event hosted by the Club, with tennis legend and Member Boris Becker.

Boris coached some of the Club’s promising Juniors on the Smash courts for an hour, answered their questions and then sat down with Chief Executive Marc Newey in front of over 50 Members. We had the pleasure of listening to him talking about his incredible career as a professional tennis player, his coaching experience with Novak Djokovic and his role as the Head of Tennis at the German Tennis Federation.

It was a truly entertaining evening, with lots of anecdotes and here’s what you thought about the event:

‘A big thank you to everyone; I really enjoyed it.’

‘Very big thank you to Boris- amazed how well he remembers his career.’

‘Boris was probably one of the most exciting players I’ve watched over the years and it was a privilege to hear him – well done!’

‘Great evening and great insights into the world of top tennis players.’
