We have a brilliant range of virtual events lined up for November and December to keep you entertained until the Club re-opens. From festive fun to learning something new to hands-on workshops, there is something for everyone.

Virtual Talk and Q&A with Matt Frei

Friday 20th November, 6.30 – 7.30pm
Hear Channel 4’s Europe Editor, former Washington Correspondent and Member Matt Frei talk about the results and ramifications of the US Presidential election. Matt will also give his views on Russia’s increasing influence in world affairs and the UK Government’s performance this year. Matt’s talks to Members are always entertaining and revealing.

He will also answer questions on the evening, so if you have a question to ask Matt, please email beforehand to events@roehamptonclub.co.uk

Stir Up Sunday

Sunday 22nd November
Falling on the last Sunday before Advent, Stir-up Sunday is the traditional day set aside to make your Christmas Pudding. We will provide the recipe and all the ingredients for you to make this Christmas Pudding at home including a booklet with tips on how to add flavour to your pudding, the best way to store it and much more.

Kits will be ready to collect at the Club gatehouse from 18th – 21st November. £15 per kit.

Virtual Career Coaching Talk by James Baybutt from Parkside Executive

Thursday 26th November, 6.30 – 8pm
James Baybutt, son of Club Members Sarah and Nicholas Baybutt, is a CTI trained Life Coach, an experienced Executive Careers Advisor and a corporate recruiter over the last 15 years. He runs Parkside Executive – a life coaching and career services business based in London.

James’s experience has enabled him to see how candidates can succeed in their job search and also to understand why many highly talented and capable individuals fail to secure the jobs they are seeking. This job search process is extremely competitive, now compounded and made ruthless as a result of Covid-19.

Recent mass redundancies and the shortage of job vacancies across multiple sectors has highlighted the importance of understanding the way job searching and applications operate in order to be successful. James will be discussing the topics below:

Virtual Festive Crochet Workshop

Friday 27th November, 2 – 4pm
Knithub 24 is a London-based knitwear design studio and school based founded by Farah Govani and Asif Dhanani. Asif has always had a passion for fabric and design, having worked in some of the finest menswear concessions and Farah is a professional knitwear designer, who has worked for Donna Karan.

Chocolate Tasting Workshop

Monday 30th November, 6.30 – 7.30pm
Take your love of chocolate to the next level with this ultimate virtual chocolate tasting experience in the comfort of your own home. Virtual Talk on English Stately Homes by Viv Haxby

Wednesday 2nd December, 6.30 – 8pm
Join Blue Badge Guide and Club member, Viv Haxby, as she looks at three of her favourite houses – Blenheim, Althorp and Chatsworth. These houses, homes to the Duke of Marlborough, Earl Spencer and the Duke of Devonshire are linked by family ties, and Viv will tell the stories behind them.

Virtual Christmas Wreath Workshop

Tuesday 8th December, 2 – 4pm
You can still have fun (in your bubble!) and make a Christmas wreath online with Shilpa of Shilpa Reddy Flower Design back from last year by popular demand. An interactive and fun virtual workshop, we will post the entire kit, including all materials, plants and equipment, to your home.
The kits will be delivered two days before the event to ensure freshness. All you have to do is log on, and join Shilpa with her team of Christmas elves to make a beautifully scented and sustainable wreath from scratch. It’s so easy you can even take part in your pyjamas! £60 per person – limited availability.

Mystery Voices Part 2 from Alistair McGowan – coming soon

We have asked the Club’s favourite impressionist Alistair McGowan to conjure up a number of his most famous voices from the past. Alistair was one of the original impressionists on Spitting Image first time around. He has blended a mixture of celebrity voices across the last few decades for you to guess to win our mystery prize.
