I am pleased to declare the 2025-6 Snooker season over, with all competitions played roughly on time. The prize winners and finalists are listed below. Congratulations to all involved and thank you to all participants for your enthusiasm in playing in the leagues and knockouts.

Alex Rose won the Atherton-Collins Trophy (scratch knockout) for the seventh time in a close final against relative newcomer, Nick Yates. Well done to Sam Thornton, another newbie, for winning the Roberta Luxton Trophy in the final against Liddy Dand. Dan Read won the summer handicap competition (Roehampton Shield) and Henry Neame won the winter equivalent (James Selby Trophy). Again, both are new names on our boards. Alex Rose had the highest aggregate points over the three leagues this season, just a few points ahead of Pradip Patel.

We have made it to the semi finals of the London Clubs team handicap competition and some of us reached the latter stages of the singles equivalent. Alex Rose was runner up in the London Clubs scratch singles competition which is a great achievement.

My thanks to all those that played in teams and to our nearly new captains, Iain Welsh and Matt Woolston. We have not had many friendlies this year but a second table would help attract more players to friendly matches.

The best breaks competition has been won by Alex Rose every year so next season we will acknowledge the top three break-makers based on the most 40+, 30+ and 20+ breaks, with the winner of 40+ excluded from the other tallies and so on. On that basis, last season would have recognised Alex Rose (40+), Andy Nowell (30+) and Pradip Patel (20+). You can see why I think this is a good idea. Please record all your breaks over 20 on the sheet that I will put on the notice board ASAP for next season.

The highlight of the season was the visit by Stephen Hendry in January, who played a few lucky snookerers, with commentary and an interview from Alistair McGowan. He is pictured with Wilf Goodhart and Pradip Patel.
