Senior Men’s Golf Chair’s Report
Even though I am finalising this report in Ravenna, being English I have to mention the lovely weather. The course looks a picture, the ball runs further, and the greens have been fast and true.
April and May Results
We thought that we were in Barbados for the Grail last week with sand on the greens and the temperature soaring to over 27c by the time the last round was completed.
Congratulations to Peter Ryan-Bell for scoring a gross 79 and winning with 39 points. The other prize winners were Alan Hughes with 38 points, John Cardwell third again, this time with 37 points and Neil Hempsall with 35 points.
There are fewer results this time as the greenkeepers were refurbishing the course before Easter and the Recorder is to be published earlier this month.
On 23 April ten three balls entered the Texas Scramble. Only one shot divided seven of the teams. The winners were Nicholas Brown, Peter Sabine and Michael Wright with a nett 63 and the runners up on count back were David Bouch, Martin Flint and Raj Vara with a nett 64.
The yellow ball competition played on 7 May was won by Brian Hall, Suresh Advani, Richard Hinchcliffe and Peter Rogan with a 4-ball adjusted 116 points with the runners up David Bouch, Giles Clark and Trevor Hearle scoring 114 points.
Forthcoming events
I hope that as many as possible will attend our Invitation Day on Wednesday 11th June. There will be a three-course lunch with wine and a number of prizes for both Members and guests.
I am pleased to report that there will be a shotgun start for the May Grail. We will arrange for the pre-ordering of sandwiches as we do for the AGM in October.
