Senior Men Golfers Report

On Wednesday of last week, we held our monthly Grail stableford competition, a fortnight early, in order to play in good conditions before course maintenance this week. The scoring was not as good as in the previous Grail but Nigel Brown was a worthy winner with 37 points.

The prize winners, decided on countback, were

1st Nigel Brown                   37 points
2nd Simon Lucas                  37 points
3rd Geoff Bradford              37 points
4th Jim Kumar                      36 points
5th David Moss                    36 points
6th Derek Downham          36 points

The Club has announced that we will continue to hold several roll ups on Wednesdays in August and September in addition to the Grail and medal competitions. We now have forty places on each roll up day and probably will be able to accommodate all who wish to play. As before, sign up is a week ahead and, before the day, names will be randomly shuffled to establish playing groups. I ask all seniors to join us on those days.

As I reported last time, our schedule of matches is proceeding apace. In July we have beaten Leatherhead away and Malden at home, each by five matches to one. Our winning streak came to an end last Friday where we were beaten by the Roehampton ladies by the narrowest of margins, 3 ½ to 2 ½. In spite of the result, it was a thoroughly enjoyable morning.
