Senior Golfer Report

The Seniors played their Autumn Medal competition on Wednesday 8th September with a field of almost sixty players. For the last few years, we have also combined the results of this competition with those of the Spring Medal to declare an Annual Medal Winner for the year.

Scoring was quite difficult for those who tangled with the thick rough which may explain why there were not any really low scores.  At least two players lost balls on the early holes and so could not put in their cards. Nonetheless, we all enjoyed a great day in the sunshine! The greens were in great condition as they were prepared for the Autumn Meeting which followed at the weekend and the Ladies’ Autumn Meeting this week.

Congratulations to Roy Martin on winning the Senior Autumn Medal with a Nett 69, on countback!  The prize winners were

Winner                      Roy Martin               Nett 69  (Countback – Back 6)
Runner-up                John Cardwell         Nett 69
Third Place               Andrew Hine           Nett 70
Fourth Place            David Bouch            Nett 70
Fifth Place                Douglas Millar         Nett 70

The best gross score was achieved by Roy Martin with 75.

The annual Medal Winner was Kevin Doyle who scored a nett 70 in the Spring Medal and a nett 71 in the Autumn Medal making a combined score of nett 141.

Congratulations to all the prize winners, especially to Kevin and Roy. The trophies will be presented at the Senior AGM on the 27th October.

We are lucky enough to have a picture of Kevin Doyle with his Medal trophy.

Back to the more usual fare of a roll-up competition next Wednesday and the September Grail on 29 September. I hope as many seniors as possible will sign up and take part.
