Salute the Services – Golf Day
The Firefighters’ Charity, Monday 20 June 2022, 10am
After a two-year enforced gap, the Services Golf Day is back, and with a BANG. This year we are going to have a brilliant day of golf and raise lots of money for the FIREFIGHTERS’ CHARITY.
You will be able to inspect two fire appliances – one a 1947 extended ladder appliance, the other a modern firefighting truck. You will meet male and female firefighters, witness a most effective demonstration of an in-car rescue, play golf with them, enjoy a special FIREBREAK at the Halfway House, listen to three short talks during the post-game meal and, most importantly, participate in a Firefighters’ Charity auction and raffle. And, of course, compete for some brilliant prizes.
Now, I know how generous all Roehampton Club Members can be. After a 2-year gap, I am asking for a special effort this year in aid of this relevant, necessary, and vital charity. The cost per head for the day is £45. I am keeping the meal simple so we can maximise the money we raise.
There will be Firefighters in the Club with collecting buckets AND the Club has very generously said it will double what we raise. Thank you, Marc Newey, your entire Team, and the Board – a wonderful offer indeed.
So – it is up to you dear Members, to make this day – Monday 20th June – special, memorable and all together positive.
Firefighters are on duty 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They make a significant difference to all of us and do so with under stated modesty. They are bloody brave …
Let us not be modest in our generosity – let us be more than generous!
