From Scorsese to Survivor: famous faces extraordinary lives
Lecture given by Harry Borden, one of the UK’s most respected and celebrated portrait photographers. There are over 100 portraits held in the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery , Harry has spent decades masterfully capturing the human spirit under the glare of public life, politics, and historical trauma. Portraits of legends like Martin Scorsese, Sir Paul McCartney, Margaret Thatcher, and Björk.
The Depth of ‘Extraordinary Lives’: Hear about his deeply personal, five-year global journey photographing survivors for his critically acclaimed book, Survivor: A Portrait of the Survivors of the Holocaust. Stripping away assistants and heavy studio gear, Harry used only a camera, a tripod, and natural light to capture quiet, profoundly moving records of resilience.
