The PhotoClub committee wish all PhotoClub members a very Happy New Year and good photography.

125th anniversary celebration

PhotoClub have begun taking photographs for the 125th anniversary celebration with helpful tuition from Nigel Wilson. There will be practical guidance from Nigel during the first part of the year during his classes in taking photographs of sports, buildings, gardens, environmental portraits and anything that can relate to activities round the Club. Nigel will also be giving guidance on editing images for the submission to the selection committee by 27th March. Spring term classes will be running from 15th January to 12th February and 26th February to 26th March. The morning and afternoon classes are now fully subscribed for the first half. Signing up for the second half with be available soon.

Nigel Wilson’s classes

Spring term dates are Thursday 15th January to 12th February, 26th February to 26th March. Classes start at 10am and 1pm. Summer term dates will be Thursday 23rd, 30th April and 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd May.

Workshops

Two-day Printing Workshop with Adrian Beasley 12th – 13th February and repeated on Saturday and Sunday 14th – 15th February – three places available at the cost of £190 per person. There will be Workshops with Nigel Wilson in early June. Dates and topics to be decided.

Beginners follow on classes

 

These popular classes with Lillian Spibey will be running Wednesday evenings 7pm to 9pm from 4th March 1st to April.

 

Topics to be covered will be

 

1. Learn the manual setting
2. Landscape photography – ideal camera settings, white balance, tripods, light, metering and HDR
3. Macro photography – camera settings, focus, lenses, colour saturation
4. Black and white photography – camera settings, over and under exposure
5. Action and sports photography- camera settings, burst, timing, perspective

Rick Findler will be talking on ‘Photojournalism in Modern times’. Rick Findler (b.1984) is an award-winning photojournalist based in London, United Kingdom. Rick’s work focusses on both domestic features as well as travelling to some of the most dangerous places on Earth in order to document what is truly happening whilst trying to shine a light on other people’s stories and tales. As an independent photographer Rick is a regular contributor to The Guardian, The Times and The Telegraph to name a few. His images have been published across the world from publications such as The Washington Post to books such as Inside ISIS: The Brutal Rise of a Terrorist Army. Lectures are free for Art Group members who may bring one non-member guest at a charge of £10. Other Club Members, why not join the Art Group for £15 per annum, which will enable you to attend seven Art Group lectures and three PhotoClub lectures each year.
