GUIDANCE FOR MEMBERS – update 19 August 2020

Welcome back to the outdoor pool

We will operate a strict booking system to ensure the smooth operation and service for Members as well as adhering to social distancing and our health and safety policies for all Members and staff.

Online booking is available via the Members’ website or by calling Reception on 020 8480 4200. 

Our operation will be reviewed regularly and can be extended when further guidelines permit.
We ask that all Members continue to respect the social distancing guidelines and Club policy to ensure the safety of Members, their guests and staff at the Club.

What times will the outdoor swimming pool open?

The pool will be open from 7am–8pm Monday to Saturday and 7am–8pm on Sundays, this will be reviewed regularly.

Will I need to book to swim?

Yes, we will be operating 45-minute sessions (with a 15 minute cleaning and sanitising window after each session). Sessions can be booked online via the ‘book studio and pool classes’ link on the Members’ website or by calling Reception on 020 8480 4200.

Bookings will be available up to 3 days in advance and will open at 6.30am each day.

Will there be lane swimming sessions?

Yes, we will operate adult only (over 16 years old) lane swimming sessions daily (please click here for swimming pool timetables). Lanes will be double-width as recommended by Swim England guidelines and there will be a maximum of 6 swimmers per lane (maximum of 12 people in the pool at one time).

Will there be family swim sessions?

Yes, family swim sessions will be scheduled every day (please see attached timetable). There will be a maximum of one family per lane. The pool will be split into 4 lanes and will be a maximum of one family per lane. Family members must all be from the same household (Maximum of 6 per lane).

Will the pool and surrounding areas be cleaned regularly?

Yes, the pool and all surrounding areas will be cleaned and sanitised thoroughly in a 15 minute window after each session before access is granted for the next group of Members.

How will I access the Outdoor Swimming Pool?

Members will need to queue outside the wooden gates next to the main Health Club Entrance. A Concierge will check you in and allow access.

Will the changing rooms be open?

Yes, changing rooms will be available for Indoor Swimming only.
Outdoor Swimmers must continue to use the gazebos on the Outdoor Pool.

Will there be a toilet available?

Yes, we are opening the toilet in the Indoor Pool for Members to use.

Will there be towels available?

No, we are asking Members to bring their own towels please.

Will the Juice Bar and Poolside Barbecue be open?

No, due to the restricted access these areas will remain closed. Members can purchase food and drink from the Piazza Pop-up refreshment trailer or from the Club Café or Members Bar.

Can I bring food and drink with me into the pool area?

Yes, Members can bring food and drink purchased from the Piazza Pop-up refreshment trailer onto poolside, but we recommend that you eat after your swim not before.

Can I leave during my session to get something to eat or drink?

No, members will not be allowed to leave the pool area mid-session and return into the pool area.

Can I sunbathe during my session?

The sessions are to maximise the opportunity to swim for all Members, so we encourage everyone to make full use of the pool during their session. All sun loungers will be removed form the area however there will be benches available for Members to use if required.

Can I bring guests into the pool with me?

No, currently access is for members only.

Will there be Hydro Spin or Aqua classes in the Outdoor Pool?

Yes, Hydro Spin and Aqua classes will return from 1st September.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking online before 24 hours of your booking otherwise you will need to call Reception on 020 8480 4200.

Pool Safety

◊ Children under 8 must be supervised at all times by an adult or someone 16yrs or over, this means in the water at all times
◊ All non swimmers must wear approved buoyancy aids and be accompanied by an adult at all times in the water and remain in a depth no further than 1.35m deep
◊ Children under the age of 8 who have passed the Roehampton Blue Band test must wear a band at all times to show they are an accomplished swimmer to be able to pass a depth of 1.35m deep
◊ Always follow the lifeguard’s instruction
◊ In the event of thunder and lightning the Outdoor Pool will close immediately and will re-open 30mins after the final thunder clap
◊ Please do not take glass into the outdoor pool area
◊ No balls allowed
◊ All children under 4 must wear a swim nappy at all times
