Men’s Senior’s Golf News

Seniors’ Golf Christmas Event 

 

Our annual Christmas event took place on Thursday 10th December.  Sadly we were not able to enjoy our traditional Christmas lunch but at least we managed to have a few holes of golf.  All players feasted on coffee and pastries before venturing out onto the course for a 9 hole competition – everybody on the Front 9 played Greensomes and the rest of us played 4BBB on the Back 9.

 

A large field of 111 Seniors and Ladies played golf.  WHS handicaps were in use and everybody played off the Yellow tees.  This experiment did not receive universal approval so we will have a rethink for next year’s event !  The prize winners were as follows:

Front 9 Greensomes

1st        Sally and Danny Gesua                                     20 points (Countback last 3 holes)

2nd       Malcolm Turner and Paul Gordon Brown   20 points (Countback last 6 holes)

3rd       Douglas Miller and Geoff Bradford               20 points

 

Back 9 4BBB

1st        Chris Bray and John Randel                             25 points

2nd       Don McKenzie and Raj Vara                            24 points

3rd       Angela Atkins and Quentin Robey                  23 points
3rd         Simon Melville and Robin Laidlaw                23 points
(Tied on countback last 9/6/3 holes and the last hole!)

Congratulations to the winners who will receive a seasonal boost to their accounts at the Sports Shop.

The December Grail takes place next week.  At the moment the start sheet is full but please join the waiting list in case somebody drops out.

On behalf of the Seniors Committee I would like to wish all Senior golfers a Happy Christmas and a COVID-19 free season in 2021.
