Men’s Golf Blog

After last week’s epic novelette, something more like an executive summary this week! I hope everyone is enjoying the re-opened bar and cafeteria, as we slowly progress towards normal Club operations. Sitting with a drink on the terrace on a sunny day with fellow golfers watching others do battle with the 18th is something I really missed.

I’ve just had a week away from everything, including golf, in Le Touquet, but couldn’t resist a photo with ‘Le Caddy’!

Last weekend the Men’s Club Championship Round 1 was played. The format differed from previous years with the top 8 players qualifying for a matchplay knockout instead of everybody playing 36 holes in one day. Reigning Champion Scott Stanley showed how its done with t a fine 69 gross, the best score of the day. Congratulations to those who’ve made it to the knockout stage. We look forward to seeing how this competition progresses.

Also congratulations to the Scratch team who defeated Surrey National, away, by 4.5 to 0.5 on Sunday last. Very impressive indeed.

The draw for the rebooted 4BBB has been made. Please try to play your matches sooner rather than later!

It’s great to see so many members playing good golf at the moment, and Richard C Williams demonstrated this with a hole-in-one on the 14th on Saturday last, to a Club Championship pin position, where he hit an 8 iron. Well done sir!
