The Club first presented its Masterplan 2035 to Wandsworth Council in April 2019 and the Council’s planners were complimentary about the consultative process and strategic vision integral to the Plan’s development.
The Masterplan 2035 sets out the major capital development projects which the Board considers to be required over the next fifteen years based on current foreseeable needs as well as reflecting Members’ wishes for improving the Club’s facilities. As with many other Masterplans of this nature, it is flexible and subject to change as circumstances and priorities evolve.
After a thorough tender process, the Board has appointed ADP architects to work closely with its Property Development Committee (PDC) and LUC planning consultants, so that a planning application can be submitted to Wandsworth Council in 2021 for a second seasonal Tennis Airhall, an Indoor Golf Centre and a new Sports Shop. Preliminary design works on remodelling the social areas of the Clubhouse will begin next year as well.
In the meantime, the Club has successfully obtained planning permission to install two Padel tennis courts and one mini tennis court on the site of the existing mini tennis courts. Finances permitting works could start in January for completion in April 2021. We feel that this fast-growing sport will attract players of all ages and complement our existing racket sport provision.
