Ladies’ Golf Blog

I have very little to write about this week, so I am resorting to the weather! Wow what a heatwave! I know not everyone enjoys playing in such heat but I love it, it makes me slow my swing down and I make sure I have plenty of water and an isotonic drink to keep my salt levels up. Sadly, it looks like that may be the end of summer but Peter will be pleased that the course has received some rain and I must say that it is playing extremely well after a big maintenance week.

The Club sent out an email on Friday updating golfers on arrangements for September and October. Please do take some time to look through this as there have been some changes from the original calendar of events. I would also recommend that if you are in any doubt over the Temporary Local Rules that are in place now, that you look at these listed under the News tab on IG.

Not all of you know who Lauren Gooding is so here is our 2020 Golf Champion. We wish Lauren the very best as she starts the next chapter in her career at Colorado University where she has gained a scholarship. Incidentally, she will be joining Issy Simpson who is also studying there.

Talking about Issy, she along with Sammy and Annabell Fuller are taking part this week in the England Golf Women’s Amateur strokeplay event being played at Burnham and Berrow. Do keep your eyes peeled on their progress.

The Ladies’ Stableford and Senior Ladies’ Stableford was played for on 4^th August. Please see the results below. There was some very good scoring which meant the CSS reducing by one stroke to 71.  The winner of the Senior Ladies’ Trophy with 40 points was Claire Martin.

I gather from some ladies that you have had a frustrating time trying to sign up for the September Stableford, I am sorry about this and we will endeavour to try to accommodate everyone for the Autumn Meeting. I know it is frustrating but please bear with us as we try to anticipate the numbers and not use up too much space for those who do not wish to play in a competition.

The AIG Women’s Open at Royal Troon, is live on Sky from Thursday 20^th through to the final day on Sunday so I would recommend watching the finest ladies’ in the world in action.

For those of you who do not have team shirts and would like one please contact Ricky in the Sports Shop.  We wear this colour top when playing matches representing the Club, friendlies, Derry, Hicks, Pearson and Surrey competitions.
