Joining the Croquet Section

The Croquet section is delighted to welcome new Members of all abilities and ages from the young to the not so young. Whether you have played before or are a complete beginner, please join us to play this fascinating and highly tactical game.

The section runs an induction programme for complete beginners. This lasts about two hours and includes an introduction to the three forms of the game and an outline of how to play a golf croquet game. We then look at mallet skills including basic swing, hitting the ball, positioning and running hoops and finish with a short game. For those who have played before, we would assess where you are in the playing / handicap level.

Once you have completed the induction, if you wish to continue playing, you will be able to book lawns through the online booking system so you can play and practice. The Monday morning roll up is open to players without a handicap and you should sign up using the online booking system. From time to time, we run post-induction training to help new players improve their skills and tactics.
