Roehampton Club vs Hurlingham Club Swim Gala

On Saturday 4th October we took 26 of our Junior swimmers and their families over to the Hurlingham Club for a Junior Inter Club Gala. All of our swimmers had attended time trial heats over the previous weeks and were ready to represent us in their individual and relay 25m races. The event was a fantastic afternoon of fun, excitement and excellent teamwork, with the children cheering each other on and supporting their team mates.

The trophy was hotly contested and the Hurlingham Club narrowly secured it with a 13 point lead. Our swimmers came home with a massive 52 medals including 13 gold, 23 silver and 16 bronze. Lots of them got more than one medal and for some of our swimmers it was their first ever medal ceremony.

Special thanks go to those children who swam in both their own age category, and the age group above in order to ensure that we had three swimmers in each race – an amazing effort. Swimmer of the day has to be Rafferty, who not only was our only swimmer in the 6 year old boy category, he also managed to secure a medal too. Finally, we really must mention the Swim Teachers Race. For those of you who were there, I think you will agree it was a nail-biting and exciting finish to the day. We settled on a draw, but with what was practically a photo finish, both sides have their own version of who won. Max (Swim Teacher) we are in awe of your swimming speed and technique, closing a gap of a third of a length to win – or so we thought!

Thank you to the Hurlingham Club for hosting a fabulous and memorable event, and to the Swim Teachers who came along to help out on the day.

Our next gala is the Roehampton Club Members Gala on Saturday 22nd November for Juniors but with some swim teacher and parents races too. In a change to our usual gala format we are opening an opportunity for our younger swimmers to be involved in their very own Mini Gala, followed by the Main Gala slightly later.

Mini Gala: Ducklings and Stages 2 and 3 only 1.30 – 2pm
Swimmers must be able to start independently and swim from a platform to the shallow end of the pool.
Main Gala: Stage 3 and above 2.30 – 5.30pm
Races for Juniors 6-13 years, family relay, parent vs staff. 25m race in each stroke.

If you would like your child to participate then please email sue.wilson@roehamptonclub.co.uk We look forward to seeing you there.

Please shower before using the swimming pools

We kindly ask all Members to take a quick shower before entering the swimming pools. This helps remove sweat, lotions, and other products, keeping our pool water cleaner, fresher, and more hygienic. By doing this, we can reduce the need for chemicals and make the swimming experience healthier and more enjoyable for everyone. Thank you for your full co-operation.

Overshoes covers to be worn on poolside

We kindly ask all Members to wear the overshoe covers provided when entering the indoor pool area to collect children from swimming lessons. Wearing overshoe covers helps keep the poolside clean and hygienic by preventing dirt, dust, and germs from shoes entering the wet areas. This helps maintain safer, fresher water and a pleasant environment for everyone.
