Electric Vehicle Charging

Electric car chargers that can be used by all types of hybrid and electric cars are available for Member use in the Members and Visitors’ Car Parks.

Two new initiatives for summer 2023 include ‘solar charging’ and overnight charging …

Solar EV charging initiative

During the summer months, our new solar panels provide much of the electricity required by the Club, to the extent that in the most solar intense parts of the day, between 0930 and 1530 we export excess power to the Grid and receive payment in return. We want to encourage Members to take advantage of this solar energy by creating a tariff whereby we offer a reduced EV charging cost and at the same time allow them to fill up with ‘zero CO2’ electricity and so reduce their carbon footprint. From 1st June to 31st August we will be running a pilot scheme offering a discounted tariff. To keep it simple this tariff will apply every day, whether rain or shine The initial offering will be that during the hours of 0930 to 1530 the charging rate will be set at 20p/kWh, i.e. less than 2/3rds the rate of most residential tariffs and much less than on street chargers. During the pilot scheme, the Club may change both the price of charging and the time window that it is available but all EV users will be made aware of changes at least 48 hours in advance.

Overnight charging

Initially, the Club will make available the two charging connections in the Visitors’ Car Park, for booking up to seven days in advance, to charge vehicles overnight. Bookings will be made through the Members’ website and cars will need to be connected after 7:30pm and before 11pm and then picked up in the morning no later than 8:30am. During the period between 11pm and 6am, when the Club gates are closed there will be no access to the vehicle except in very exceptional circumstances. The pricing for charging will be 20p/kWh.
