Golf Croquet Results

SECF GC League Matches
What a difference a game makes – up to last weekend, we played two, lost two, then on Saturday 18th, we played Old College, at home, and won 7-2, and on Monday 20th, we played Purley Bury, again at home, and won 6-3. While the scores are emphatic, the games were close, and well contested with many ‘golden hoops’. Well done to Roehampton Teams.

Golf Croquet Club Tuesday Evening

Last Tuesday, 21st August we had four new players and some regulars. Thanks to those regular players, who are supporting this initiative to attract more players, please encourage anyone to come along – particularly family groups and teenagers, and ‘young adults’.

Croquet and Cocktails

We are repeating the successful Cocktails and Croquet Evening on 19th September, with two sessions, 17.30 and 19.00. Posters are being put up around the Club and we are looking to attract new Members, beginners and novices. Please sign up at Reception or give them a call on 020 8480 4200.

A New Trend?

Seen during a Quarter Final GC Match, last week – ‘Team Shirts’?! worn by Frances Coleman and Chris Roberts. Could this be a new trend? Also pictured John and Dan Pearson, their opponents on the night – Dan became a proud father last week and celebrated the arrival of a daughter, by winning the match.

Bridge Report, 30 August 2018

Congratulations to Peter Bonnor-Moris, Malcolm Bricknall, Libby Dand, Danny and Sally Gesua, Kristoffer and Gunilla Huldt and Claire Martin for being the victors by five points when the MCC visited the club for the annual golf/bridge day. Despite losing the MCC thoroughly enjoyed their time with us and the day ran very smoothly.
The third term of our Beginners’ Bridge evening lessons starts again on Tuesday 18th September and there are a few spaces left. If you are not quite a true beginner but would like to resume learning this enjoyable game you are welcome to join this group as the others are now at a stage where a new person to the group who has a little knowledge would fit right in. Pauls’ classes also resume soon – from Wednesday 19th September.

To mark the launch of the exciting new Members Bar Menu on 6th September, our very own Paul Ambrus will be playing a selection of music. Do come along and try the new menu (discounted by 20% from 6th – 30th September) and be entertained by Paul from 7pm.

On Sunday 28th October we are running our Swiss Teams event and if you have not already entered and would like to take part find three other bridge playing friends and enter a team. It can be great fun and it makes for a memorable day.

Until next time,
Belinda
