Inter Club National Association Croquet Tournament Result

Last Sunday saw Roehampton Club take on Sussex County from Southwick in the first round of the National Inter Club Association Croquet Tournament.

Despite a cold breeze, and occasional showers, play was possible throughout the day.

Roehampton Club got off to a good start, with Harry Fisher and Mark Van Loon winning the doubles, followed by Peter Siddall coming from behind to record an excellent win.

After lunch, the remaining singles began with Harry Fisher recording a win (26TP), followed by Mark Van Loon, who ‘pegged out’ in style from 11 yards, both balls striking the peg.

Peter Siddall recorded another good win to seal a 5-1 victory, the seventh game was not played.

Roehampton Club was represented by Tim Russell, (Captain), Harry Fisher, Mark Van Loon and Peter Siddall.

Sussex County was represented by Dominic Nunns, Chris Coull, Gabrielle Higgins and Paul Castell.

Congratulations to Roehampton Club!

Summer Internal Competitions

The Summer Internal Competitions are well underway, with nearly all the first round matches complete, and it is great to see so many bookings on the ‘system’!

Also, it is good to see some of our Under Fifteen Youth Players competing in the Handicap Doubles.

The Weather!

The weather has gone from persistently dry, to a very variable mix of all seasons!

A double rainbow over Lawn One, one evening, caught the eye of Andrew Wilson. Could there be a pot of gold in the pool?

But perhaps the most dramatic was late on Tuesday afternoon, 18th May, when there was a storm with incredibly heavy rain, thunder and lightning. Thanks to Peter Siddall for capturing the aftermath of twenty minutes of truly ‘biblical’ rainfall.

One plus – another potential new member appeared to inspect the facilities!

Enjoy your croquet!
