Dear Member,
Immaculate Golf Course
After the summer recess September is a busy month for all and our Club is no exception. We started the month with a very successful Golf Senior Tour Pro Am where our course presentation was lauded by the Professionals. Peter and his team will carry those high standards into the Autumn Meetings over the next two weeks. Please also look out for Annabell Fuller representing Roehampton Club and Europe in the Junior Solheim Cup next Tuesday and Wednesday at Gleneagles. Highlights will be on Sky Sports as it covers the Solheim Cup into the weekend. Our Men’s Scratch team play their Surrey Knockout Final at Burhill GC on Sunday 22nd September – pop along to cheer them if you can.
Grass Courts – last two weeks
Our grass tennis courts have been fabulous throughout the summer thanks to Chris Hughes and his team. The big block (courts 19 to 24) will be renovated from Monday 9th September to prepare them for next year. Courts 25 – 28 will be in play next week and start their renovation from Monday 16th September.
The Indoor Tennis Centre (ITC) courts were cleaned this week as we are still seeing lots of spilled drink stains and debris being brought into the area. Please clean your feet before entering the ITC on the mats provided. The temporary air hall will be erected w/c 21st October to give us an additional six indoor courts through the winter.
Overflow Car Park
We aim to open our overflow car park on Monday 16th September. The project has been delayed by some technical issues which should be finally resolved next week. We have erected some explanatory signage on how to access the routes into the car park from the Members’ Car Park and via Rosslyn Park from Monday 16th. Members do need to follow the guidance on how to park in the spaces provided as we look to accommodate as many vehicles (of all sizes) as neatly as possible.
We will be operating the car park in tandem with Rosslyn Park FC and our Security Team will be in charge of its operation. Rosslyn Park have kindly offered a discount on all tickets to watch the 1st XV as they embark upon their new National One season this Saturday at home to Rotherham Titans. Pick up a voucher for a £10 ticket at Reception and pay on arrival at Rosslyn Park.
Social Events
With the Rugby World Cup approaching, Members are treated next Wednesday 11th September to listening to two former British Lions talk about their home country’s chances along with the expert opinion of Owen Slot, the Times Chief Rugby Correspondent. An entertaining evening not to be missed as we have a few tables left.
Test your team’s general knowledge in our autumn Curry and Quiz Night on Wednesday 18th September and I promise not to ask questions on Brexit. All your Brexit questions and more will be answered on 31st October by John Bercow when he comes to talk to us. Due to popular demand we have arranged to live stream his talk to the Club Café that evening so sign up at Reception without delay to listen to his insightful and entertaining speech.
