Chief Executive’s Message

Dear Member,
It has been pleasing to see so many Members enjoying returning to the Club playing golf, tennis, croquet and enjoying our gardens. My thanks to you all for adhering to our usage rules over the last two weeks. We are now able to enter the next phase from Monday 1st June as follows:

Golf

Members may book four tee times for 9 holes play in advance within the seven-day booking window.
Two balls only at 10-minute intervals as per England Golf guidance.
Tee times start at 8am and finish at 8pm. No guests allowed yet as we are too busy with Member play.
If there is a vacant tee time on the day, that can be booked for Members only, in addition to the four tee times.
Members can receive a lesson on the practice ground and also play 9 holes on the same day
A 9-hole playing lesson with one of our Professionals will count as the one permitted round per day.
Please place all rubbish in the bins provided or take it away with you.

Tennis

Existing rules apply but there will be eight grass courts to choose from 1st June.  A household of up to four Members may play on one court.

Please can Members not make cash payments to the tennis coaches as it breaches our sanitising standard rules and LTA Guidance. Please pay by bank transfer in advance or within 24 hours of the lesson at the latest. The coach reserves the right to add interest onto payments they have to chase Members for.

Croquet

Existing booking rules apply – lawns free on the day can be booked by anyone via Reception.
Please click here for some updates to the guidance and booking rules wef 1st June

Golf, Tennis and Croquet

Two sports may now be played on the same day by booking in advance i.e. golf lesson and a 9-hole round, tennis lesson and tennis court up to 1.5 hours, golf round and tennis booking/lesson and croquet session with golf and/or tennis.

As a multi-sports club we are now ready to allow more than one sport use per day but within government guidelines.

We will review again in one week’s time as we await updated guidance from England Golf, LTA and the Croquet Association.

Health Club and Squash

Unfortunately, the government is not considering any use of gyms, indoor and outdoor pools, or squash courts before 4th July. We have asked Swim England to lobby the government to make an exception for outdoor pools to open in June as we have an operating plan ready to go as soon as we get the go ahead. One-to-one personal training can be booked with Roy Ritson outdoors and our fitness classes via Zoom continue to be very popular.

Look out next week for a new timetable for small outdoor group exercise classes coming soon.

Bridge, Art Group and PhotoClub, Backgammon and Clubhouse

Again, we have no guidance on when we will be permitted to open any of the above. A big thank you to the different committees and groups who continue to provide online classes keeping Members engaged during the lockdown.

Takeaway Refreshments in the Piazza

From Saturday 30th May we are delighted to announce the provision of an outdoor refreshment station in the piazza. We will be offering freshly made bacon rolls, sandwiches, speciality coffees and a selection of cold drinks for takeaway only. Available from 7.45am through to 6.30pm, it is a grab-and-go service only. No need to order in advance, but we will be taking card payments only (membership card or credit/debit card). No cash please. Please place all rubbish in the bins provided or take it away with you.

Look out for our special Roehampton Club Gin offer to celebrate National Gin Day
Read about the history and background of the Club’s very own Gin with some recipe ideas here.

Private Club Survey

500 Members have completed the industry-wide private club survey so far and provided some excellent information for the Board to consider in September when it reviews the 2021 subscriptions and new Member intake. If you have not already done so, please complete the survey here before 31st May.

Thank you for the numerous compliments paid to Peter Bradburn and his team for the excellent condition of the golf course, croquet lawns, grass tennis courts and gardens. Peter has also been busy removing swarms of bees from the tennis courts and re housing them in our hives – a multi-talented man which is perfect for a multi-sports club!

Best wishes,
