Bridge Blog

Dear All,

Next Monday, 19th October, was supposed to be our Bridge AGM. As advised in an earlier blog this will not be happening. However, I will be sending out reports by email and would welcome any comments you may have once you have read them. These will be sent out on Monday.

Great news. We are running another Real Bridge session on Tuesday 20th October at 7.30pm.

Please do come and support the session, we will play more Boards than the last couple of trials. If there is enough interest then the plan is to run a weekly evening session. The Club have very kindly agreed to fund such a session.

I would like to try for a Tuesday as it is the one day that we don’t run any afternoon Duplicate sessions or team matches. So please do come and play on Tuesday 20th October.

On October 8th we hosted, online, a match against AELTC. We had to run it as two separate Teams of 4 matches and then combined the totals at the end. Congratulations to Peter BM, Jeanette, Ron and Philip and Viv, Paul, Roger and Wendy Gilbert. The overall score was  + 28 Roehampton.

As we all get more used to playing online some clever Tournament Directors are managing to set up larger events. Hurlingham Club ran a Swiss Teams Competition online on October 10th with an amazing 30 teams entering, 6 of whom were from the Roehampton Club. Congratulations to the Roehampton Reprobates: Peter Hardyment, Malcolm Bricknell, Ralph Evers and Ron Wood who won the event.

With great sadness I report the death of Sir Peter Harrop who passed away on September 10th from heart failure. Peter was a regular player at the Social Duplicate sessions on a Thursday evening. Last year he and his wife, Margaret, won the No Fears Trophy. Peter will be greatly missed.

I hope to see some of you in passing at the Club
