Matches and competitions
Our croquet and bridge team had a most enjoyable day at Hurlingham on Friday 17th July. The croquet in the morning was very tight as each pair played four 30-minute games, with Hurlingham ending just one game ahead. After a delicious lunch, there was a bridge teams match of 20 boards. Roehampton Club performed strongly and won by 26 imps. So, with honours even, it ended in good spirits at the end of a strongly competitive but friendly competition.
Our team was captained by Ron Wood, with Diana Wilson, Carmel Brancen, Allan Lever, Sue Norgate, Libby Dand, Jacqui Pattison, Emile Fernandes.
Bridge beginners programmes at RAC and Roehampton Club
Hurlingham, RAC and Roehampton Club are cooperating to offer their Members the choice of joining either an evening course at RAC Pall Mall (Wednesday evenings 7pm – 9pm) or a daytime course at Roehampton Club (Monday mornings 10am – 12pm). Both courses will start in September 2026 and are designed to take place over the course of the following year in three successive terms.
The RAC Beginners’ Course begins with a bridge starter day on Saturday 19th September with Mike Eden. This will be followed by weekly lessons on Wednesdays starting 23rd September from 7pm to 9pm with an initial 11-week term. The Roehampton Club Beginners’ Course will take place weekly from Monday 14th September with a first term of eight weeks. The course will be run by James Thrower and will follow a widely recognized and well supported EBU format. Further details are available here, on the noticeboard and at Reception.
