Bridge Blog

Dear All,

In the Business House League, the Diamonds are looking good to finish second in their League which would mean they will be promoted to League 2 next season.

Ralph sent me a report on their last match:

‘I am delighted to report an excellent win tonight by our Red Squad (Peter H, Malcolm, Peter B-M and me) against Church Commissioners by 83 imps. This should convert to a 20 – 0 vp win and gives us revenge for the 0 – 20 vp defeat we suffered against Church Commissioners last week.

Again many of the points gained turned on slammy hands, with Peter H and Malcolm bidding and making a grand slam (only a small slam being bid and made at the other table) as well as a small slam (which was not bid at the other table). And in the second half Peter B-M and my opponents bid a small slam which they failed to make, while a comfortable 3 NT was bid and made at the other table.’

Congratulations to the full squad of Viv, Paul Ambrus, Danny and Sally Gesua, Ralph, Peter BM, Malcolm and Peter H.

Congratulations to Peter and Henryka Bonnor Moris, Ron Wood and Philip Howard for winning the Teams Event on Real Bridge last  Friday.

The next Teams competition will be on May 21st at 3pm. I do hope that many of you will be able to join us for the afternoon. Please can you email me to enter so that I can make sure that the movement is set up correctly.

While we are in discussion with the Club about re-opening the Bridge Room as soon as we can, this will not happen before the end of June at the earliest. In the meantime, I am very conscious that there are many people who have not yet ventured to play Bridge online. If you are not playing because you are worried about the technology, then please let me know. I will try to find you some expert help so that you too can enjoy playing Bridge again. Please call me on 07771 858947 or email me on kate11blake@btinternet.com

The Duplicate sessions on Wednesday will continue to run at 2.30pm for the next few weeks. Do let me know whether you prefer this new start time.

I do hope that you are all managing to get to the Club and enjoying some of their facilities. Long may the sun continue to shine, so that eating outdoors is a pleasant experience …

Hope to see you all soon.
