Match Reports

Roehampton Club was one of ten teams of eight representing London Clubs competing for the RAC Centenary Cup. The event was held in the magnificent Mountbatten Room in the RAC Club, Pall Mall. The home team won the event with another RAC team in second place. The Roehampton Club team of Peter Bonnor-Moris, Ralph Evers, Malcolm Bricknell, Gordon Fox, Ron Wood, Philip Howard and Sally and Danny Gesua was not far behind coming a very creditable third place.

It was good to resume our regular match fixture vs Carlton Club since 2019, which was played at the Carlton Club in St James’. A good win for Roehampton Club of plus 47 imps. The team was Julie Bacon, Rita Gallinari-Jones, Sue Norgate, Felicity Irlam, Malcolm and Diane Bricknell, Simon Lucas and John Fooks.

The following week our away match at Royal Wimbledon produced a similar imp score of 44 imps but this was a loss for our Roehampton team- Kate Blake, Sue Norgate, Maria Wiehe, Julie Bacon, Jeanette Reid, Ron Wood, Marion Kreling and Simon Lucas,

These are very friendly matches and although a loss is disappointing it is good to meet up with other clubs and enjoy a convivial dinner together.

Match fixtures will resume in the New Year so do look out for the information which will be circulated via e-mail/this newsletter or notices on the bridge noticeboard in Reception.

Congratulations to Peter Hardyment and Malcolm Bricknell who played in the winning Surrey team in their division of the Metropolitan Cup. (An inter-county competition for South-eastern counties)
