Backgammon Blog

Sadly, it still doesn’t look as if we will be playing live backgammon in the foreseeable future and so we will continue online for the time being.

We have been running sessions every Thursday afternoon where I take on the audience and these have proved to be very popular. However, I am conscious that we haven’t done anything for those who can’t attend on Thursdays due to work or other commitments. We would be happy to run similar sessions on those evenings scheduled in the diary as Backgammon Club Nights. The next one of those is Monday 12th October.

We would be interested to know how many people would attend such a session, which would run 7.30 – 9pm (approximately). Alternatively, we can provide online tuition and/or lectures. Please let us have your thoughts on this topic or if you have any other ideas for backgammon during this difficult period.

The final of the online summer championships will be between Tony Taylor and Simon Edwards. Good luck to both players.

It is likely that the winter knockout tournament will have to start as an online tournament even if some later rounds might be played live. More details in due course.

The annual backgammon dinner for 2020 is formally cancelled. Let us hope we can revert to normal service next year. As a reminder the following prizes are still to be awarded:

Club Champion – 2019 – Peter Bonnor-Moris

TTBG Champion – 2019 – Carmel Brancen

Winter Tournament – 2019-2020 – Peter Trueman

Finally, for those with discerning taste who wish to advertise our game can I suggest purchasing one of these rather fetching face marks! Details upon request.

Kind regards,

Chris and Gill Bray
