Congratulations to all these artists and indeed all those who took part. Cristina’s painting (left) will be hung prominently in the Club for a while – Marc Newey will announce the location. The other works will be hung again in the Reading Room during October 2020 to promote next year’s exhibition.
The People’s Choice
The general feeling is that the 2019 Roehampton Club Art Group Exhibition was bigger and better than ever before. There were 118 exhibits by 37 different artists in many different media: acrylics, oils, watercolour, pencil, pastel not to mention sculpture, ceramic painting, Arts and Crafts, and for the first time this year – textile art. What a wealth of talent we have at the Club! Eighteen works were sold not including those in the browsers.
A new feature this year was to vote for your top three favourites (excluding the tutors’ submissions.) 393 votes were cast and, given the last four are level pegging, these were your top ten choices:
|1||Cristina Fowler||Orange Tree, Cretan Spring||56|
|2||Keith Tottem||Summer at Cissbury||38|
|4||Sue Jell||Floral Composition||21|
|6||Michael Godfrey||Snowdon Range from Harlech Rock||18|
|7||Sue Norgate||Mediterranean Garden||11|
|8||Cristina Fowler||Small Wave||11|
|9||Patricia Neate||Winter Walk, Sheen Common||9|
|10||Susie Beard||On the prowl||8|
