Spring Term 2021 Art Classes

Spring term starts on the 11th January 2021 and runs until the 26th March 2021, with a break for half term. We should assume that, for the time being, everyone will be on zoom. But let’s hope some of us can get back into the Art Studio soon, when Government restrictions allow.

We’re running a full programme of seven classes each week:

Discovering Watercolour with Shaun Carey

Mondays 10am – 1pm or 2 – 5pm, 11th January – 22nd March
Tuesdays 2 – 5pm, 12th January – 23rd March
£150 for 10 sessions

Life Drawing with Kathy Barker

Wednesdays 10am – 1pm
13th January – 24th March
£190 for 10 sessions including live model.

Beginners and Improvers Drawing and Painting with Kathy Barker

Wednesdays 2 – 5pm
13th January – 24th March

£150 for 10 sessions including live model for one session.

Painting in Acrylics with Kathy Barker

Fridays 10am – 1pm or 2 – 5pm
15th January – 26th March
£150 for 10 sessions

All classes will break for half-term for the week of 15th February – 19th February

  • Your choice of class
  • Your email address and contact phone number. Please confirm to them that you are happy for us to use these to contact you. We will only use your phone number if strictly necessary.
  • Whether or not you are an Art Group member.
  • Your credit card number for payment

Booking closes on 6th January 2021.

Art Group Membership

Classes are available to Art Group Members only. If you are not yet a Member you will be asked to join and pay for membership when you book your art class.

Membership is £20 for the full year. This will be automatically renewed in January 2022 when the fee will be added to your Club subscription.

Looking Over the Arts’ Shoulder: the Italian Sketchbooks of J.M.W. Turner by Nicola Moorby

Nicola is an independent art historian specialising in British art of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Formerly a curator and researcher at Tate Britain she has published widely on J.M.W. Turner, including How to Paint like Turner (Tate Publishing, 2010), and is part of the team preparing the online catalogue of the Turner Bequest.

Nicola has appeared as an expert on television and radio, including most recently Great Paintings of the World with Andrew Marr and her film, An Artist of Note: Turner and the new £20, is featured on the Arts Society Connected website.

This lecture will be followed through 2021 by a programme of another five lectures covering Winston Churchill, Vermeer, Grayson Perry, John Piper and Graham Sutherland.

Art Exhibition and Sale 2020

The Art Exhibition and Sale 2020 is OPEN until the 18th December as an exciting and colourful, online 3D art gallery.

 

This is an easy and enjoyable way for you to see the artwork from your own home and to buy or commission a Christmas present!

 

There are a record 47 artists this year exhibiting 140 paintings, drawings and ceramics.

We recommend strongly that on your first visit to the gallery website you click “Start Guided Tour”. This takes you on a 15-minute tour, pausing in front of each artwork, without any need to navigate yourself.
