125 Anniversary Art and Photo Exhibition
At the fabulous Art Group 125 Summer Garden Party prizes were awarded for the best painting and photograph in the 125 Anniversary Exhibition. Thank you for all the positive feedback including:
‘Thought the whole evening went really well, great vibe as ever from theArt Group, well done to you and the team …’
The team was led by Peter Hollom, who volunteers to organise all our social engagements, and included Patsie and Nikki from the Club’s Events Team along with the F&B Team.
We celebrated the Club’s 125th year anniversary while the Art Group is celebrating 35 years – established in 1991 with the PhotoClub celebrating 16 years – established 2010. Members originally:
⇒ met outdoors / parks to paint together
⇒ arranged demonstrations by professional painters
⇒ art lectures and visits
⇒ exhibitions
⇒ dinner
⇒ AGM
Art Classes started in 2007 and the Art Studio was opened in 2010 with successors building on that foundation.
Best Painting and Photograph in the 125 Anniversary Exhibition
⇒ winners receive Rose Bowls engraved with the Club’s special 125-anniversary logo
⇒ thank you to everyone who submitted an entry. They were all fabulous. Everyone is a winner.
⇒ we may repeat combined painting and photo exhibition every two years … with different themes to hold it together

The next 2026 Art Group social event is the opening of the annual art exhibition and dinner on Tuesday 10th November
Artists should be starting to prepare for the annual art exhibition with entry and instruction forms available in September. Last date for Entry Forms will be Friday 23rd October and take in Sunday 8th November. The maximum size for art works will be 80cm wide and 60cm high
Annual Art Group Exhibition and Sale
An exhibition and sale of artwork by the talented members of the Art Group is held in November each year. All members of the Art Group are invited to enter up to three artworks for a small charge. The standard of entries continues to impress everyone and includes artwork in acrylics, watercolours, pastels, mixed media, charcoal and pencil, and also ceramics.
Full details of how to enter the exhibition are emailed to all Art Group members and posted on the Art Group noticeboard in Reception from September.
Art Group Dinner
The exhibition is launched with a private view and drinks reception, followed by our annual dinner for all Art Group members and their guests. This is a great opportunity to meet and chat with fellow artists at the Club while viewing the exhibition and celebrating the activities of the group through the year.
Other Exhibitions
Classwork exhibition
Students participating in the Art Group Classes are invited to exhibit one of the artworks which they have produced in class in an exhibition in the spring. This is a great way to show off the work of our students and also the benefit of the great teaching skills of our professional tutors.
Reading Room exhibitions
Our more accomplished artists are also invited to form individual or a joint exhibitions of their art. These are held each month and are displayed in the Reading Room at the Club. This is a great way for Members to view and, if they wish, buy works of art while at the Club.
