Chief Executive’s Message
As summer gives way to autumn, we have been fortunate to enjoy some wonderful late-season weather, providing the perfect backdrop for Members returning from their summer holidays and making the most of everything the Club has to offer. The transition has been very welcome for our greenkeeping and grounds teams, who have worked throughout the summer to keep our surfaces in good condition. As Members have returned, our sporting programmes resume in full, and the Club is lively with activity, competition and social connection.
This month, we have much to celebrate.
A huge congratulations to our Men’s and Ladies’ Tennis Teams, who have both been crowned National Club League Champions. This achievement means Roehampton Club now holds both the Men’s and Ladies’ National Premier League titles and the Men’s and Ladies’ National Club League titles, the two most prestigious team club competitions in the country. To achieve this level of success across both the men’s and ladies’ game is truly exceptional and reflects the talent, dedication and depth of our players, coaches and wider racquets team.
Our future also looks exceptionally bright. Congratulations to Junior Member Bea Robson, who claimed the Under-18 Girls’ Singles title at the Surrey County Championships. Winning a county championship is a significant accomplishment and Bea’s success is a wonderful example of the opportunities available to young athletes at Roehampton Club. We are immensely proud of her achievement and look forward to following her continued progress.
Elsewhere, it has been fantastic to see the continued growth of pickleball at the Club. Members have enjoyed notable success during the summer season, securing titles and producing strong performances both locally and nationally. The enthusiasm surrounding the sport demonstrates once again how Roehampton Club embraces both tradition and innovation, creating opportunities for Members of all ages and abilities to participate, compete and enjoy being active.
Alongside our sporting successes, the Health Club remains a vibrant hub of activity. Classes and PT continue to attract enthusiastic participation. With the swimming term now back in full swing, Members are once again enjoying the fantastic range of aquatic activities on offer at the Club. For those looking to try something different, Hydro Spin provides an excellent low-impact, high-energy workout in the pool.
Across our sporting sections, I would also encourage Members to consider getting involved in the governance of the Club. Nominations are currently open for Sports Committees covering Bridge, Croquet, Golf, Ladies’ Golf, Men’s Golf, Health Club, Squash and Tennis, providing an excellent opportunity for Members to contribute to the future development of their chosen sport and the wider Club community. Nomination forms are available at Reception and completed forms should be handed to the Reception Team by 8pm on Thursday 24th September 2026.
While celebrating sporting success, we are also looking to the future. Progress continues on our Indoor Golf Centre project, which will provide Members with a fantastic year-round training and coaching facility. For Members playing the golf course, you will have noticed the development of the Short Game Practice Area, which will be a key addition to the Club.
As always, there is much to look forward to in the weeks ahead, from junior activities and coaching programmes to social events, competitions and opportunities to connect with fellow Members. I encourage you to make the most of everything the Club has to offer and to continue sharing your feedback, ideas and experiences with us.
Thank you for your continued support of Roehampton Club. I look forward to seeing many of you around the Club over the coming weeks.
