Congratulations Member Rob Swift

… who WON the Jurassic Coast 100km (1912 metres ascent) Ultra Challenge this past weekend. Starting at 6:45am, Rob finished 10 hrs and 38 minutes later.

Charity Fundraiser: Marathon des Sables – Member Hugo Anderson and his dad Simon

Hugo writes below a few paragraphs about their journey through the Sahara:

‘My dad Simon Anderson and I have finished the MARATHON DES SABLES. 270km across the Sahara Desert over 6 days, carrying everything on our backs. It was brutal. And humbling. And something I’ll never forget.

The hardest part wasn’t just the running. It was everything around it – foam mat beds, little sleep, cold dehydrated food, sandstorms during recovery, rocky terrain – then waking up and doing it all again. It required constant adaptation and a real shift in perspective. It stripped things right back and gave me a deeper appreciation for basic necessities I usually take for granted.

Our tent was incredible. Encouragement, shared suffering, small acts of kindness when people were running on fumes. Plodding along through the desert, you end up meeting inspiring people from all walks of life – a reminder of how powerful human connection can be in precarious conditions.

I’m hugely proud that this journey has raised £10k+ for StreetGames UK, a grassroots organisation that brings sport directly onto young people’s doorsteps, where access is often the biggest barrier.
