Chief Executive’s Message

Club Gardens on Show

The weather forecast is sunny for the next week or so which is good news for all our outdoor activities and especially our gardens as we welcome visitors this Sunday to admire all the planting our excellent team has put in place. We open the gardens for viewing to the London Gardens Trust for one day each year so that visitors admire different private gardens and contribute to the charity for the experience. Please click here for more details

Thanks must go to Sam Cumber, Steve Hutchens, and their team for their preparation of the gardens for Members to enjoy.

On that note you may missed Peter Bradburn’s regular Grass Clippings articles which feature in the Recorder. Peter is on sick leave until August as he recently underwent a major operation but I am pleased to report he is recovering well.

Saturday 11th June is National Gin Day so join us in choosing the very popular Roehampton Club Gin which uses botanicals from the Club gardens. The perfect gift for Fathers Day!

Summer Family Barbecue and Salute the Services

Two summer events to enjoy in the sun are the Summer Family Barbecue on Saturday 18th June where there are only a few places left so visit Reception, give the team a call on 020 8480 4200 or log into the website and book online – and the Salute the Services event to honour our firefighters and make a contribution to the Firefighters Charity.

On Monday 20th June there will be a variety of activities followed by golf, lunch and a raffle. Click here for more details

Members car park access to the Health Club

Members need to note that from Monday 13th June the gate access to the Health Club and grass tennis courts 25-28 directly from the Members car park can only be opened with a membership card or wrist band.

We had a recent theft of Club property with someone entering through that gap and therefore we want to ensure only authorised access is allowed.

A sign is posted to remind Members. If you forget your card then you will be required to walk past Security and through the piazza to the Health Club and grass tennis courts being acknowledged by Security en route.

Annabell Fuller playing in the Curtis Cup

Annabell is representing Roehampton Club and GB&I once more in the Curtis Cup starting at Merion GC in the US tomorrow.

This is her third appearance by the age of 20 which is remarkable. No-one else in either team has achieved this feat.

Let’s hope the mighty US team can be defeated on home turf. Coverage is on the Golf Channel from tomorrow. Click here for more information

Tennis Club Championships

Please note that the finals of the Club Championships will be held on grass courts 25-28 all day on Saturday 25th June. The quarter finals will be held on Thursday 23rd and semi finals on Friday 24th June in the evening. The standard across all the categories is very high so very good viewing watching some of the best players for their age in the country all within our Club. Dan Lott, Racquets Director has arranged an exciting after party on Saturday 25th with a live band by the Outdoor Pool – not to be missed!

Kind regards,

Marc
