Ladies’ Golf Blog

Annabell Fuller has had two quite incredible weeks in her career, firstly she won the English Amateur Strokeplay championship at Burnham and Berrow https://www.englandgolf.org/annabell-fuller-flies-high-to-win-the-english-womens-open-amateur-stroke-play-championship/

Not content enough with that title, she went on and took part in the British Amateur Championships at West Lancs Golf Club. She performed heroically once again and finished runner-up.  Please click on the following to read a full report of the event. https://www.randa.org/en/news/2020/08/aline-krauter-wins-amateur

Roehampton Club was also represented by Issy Simpson and Sammy Fuller in both events. Both played admirably and gave their very best. Issy qualified as joint leader after the medal rounds of the British Amateur, just getting pipped, losing 1 down in the first round of the matchplay to defending champion Emily Toy.

Sammy Fuller finished runner up in the second Rose Series event played at Moor Park. Many of you will have read about the Justin Rose Ladies’ Series, not least because of the fire that ultimately put paid to the final of the event being played at Wentworth. This has been a great series to rise the profile and support Ladies’ golf. https://www.englandgolf.org/rose-ladies-series-fuller-pushes-winner-maclaren-all-the-way/

What an amazing group of golfers representing Roehampton Club. Wishing you all the best year when you all return to university in the USA.

The AIG Women’s British Open Championship from Royal Troon had a wonderfully exciting final day with a remarkably composed performance from Sophie Popov from Germany ranked outside the top 300 going on to win by 2 shots at 7 under par.

A few of us had an enjoyable introduction to Croquet organised by Caroline Dewar carolinedewar@btinternet.com. If anyone else is interested, please contact her as several golfing ladies who also play croquet are keen to encourage participation in a social, fun and competitive game.

Courteous communication please

The Ladies’ Committee, Vice Captain, and I ably supported by Tristan and Ryan are responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the ladies’ golf for 800 Members of all abilities and who have different ambitions for their game. We do our utmost to organize competitions, matches and events for you putting in considerable thought, time and effort to achieve a reasonable balance for all and to try to ensure you all enjoy the time you spend involved in these events. It has been a difficult year for everyone, some more than others and a little forbearance will go a long way over the coming months. It would be appreciated if in any correspondence to the Committee Members you would communicate courteously.
