Padel Tennis

The Padel tennis courts are proving popular with lots of Members experiencing the sport over the last two weeks. After half-term we are launching junior and adult coaching courses. These courses will give you a chance to learn how to play the game and help you transition from tennis to Padel the correct way. There are under 10 and under 14 junior courses, also beginner and intermediate adult courses that run until the end of the summer term.

French Open Sweepstake

The French Open gets underway on Sunday 30th May. To add a little excitement to this year’s tournament I am running a sweepstake for the Men’s and Ladies Open Singles events. The winner of each will receive three guest passes to use at the Club.

How to enter

◊ I will randomly list the competing players from 1 to 128 for the Men’s and Ladies Open Singles.
◊ Each male player will be matched with a female player.
◊ To enter you just need to send an email to racquets@roehamptonclub.co.uk
◊ Your name will then be matched with a Men’s and a Ladies’ player. Therefore, you will have two opportunities to win the guest passes.
◊ All entries free of charge.

If there are still players available when the tournament starts each Member that has entered will be issued another player until they have all been allocated.

Once all the players have been allocated all members entered will receive an email with the male and female player they are matched with.

Also look out for Member Joe Salisbury in the doubles event as he looks to add to his Australian Open title with his partner Rajeev Ram.

Pickleball Taster Sessions – Adults and Family Session – Sunday 13th June

Pickleball is a fun sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Played both indoors and outdoors on a badminton-sized court and a slightly modified tennis net. Two or four players use solid paddles made of composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, over a net.

It is the fastest growing sport in the USA growing by over 20% during the pandemic! Pickleball really is a sport for everyone; in 2019, the US Nationals hosted by Indian Wells Tennis Garden had ages from 5-90 in the tournament and also had a wheelchair event as well. Due to it being a low impact sport on the body, players are able to play for long periods of time and are also able to play and compete against different age groups.

Free Taster Session

Taster sessions will introduce players to the fundamental shots and basic rules of pickleball. We will key shots including, the dink, serve, volley, drive and third shot drop!
The sessions will contain drills, some conditioned games as well as some fun competitive game play. We aim to make it a fun environment where players can enjoy spending time learning the sport. We will also aim to play some matches towards the end of the sessions and introduce scoring!

There will be two free sessions on Sunday 13th June – a Family Session (Children 5yrs+) from 1pm to 2.30pm, followed by an Adults Session from 2.30pm to 4pm (16+yrs).

These sessions will take place on Court 11.
16 bookings maximum on each session.

Book now at Reception by calling 020 8480 4200.
