Men’s Golf Seniors Report

While I have been away in California sunshine visiting family, the Seniors have held two competitions in grey cold winter weather. The regular Wednesday Roll-Up on 19th January was played as a Team Stableford Competition using the Step-up Waltz format – one, two and three scores in counting in rotation. Congratulations to the winning team of Nigel Brown, Hassan Dajani and Ev Schenk, scoring 71 points. The runners up were Duncan Christie-Miller, Don McKenzie and Raj Vara with 67 points.

Our monthly Grail competition was played on 26th January. A field of 59 seniors entered on a lovely winter day. Overall, there were some excellent scores! Congratulations to Stephen Branton-Speak, winning the January Grail with 39 points on countback!

I hope to be back on the course later this week. Our next Roll-Up is on 2nd February where we are playing Team Stableford with Yellow Ball. A team member in turn plays the yellow ball on each hole with their points counting double. I recall putting the yellow ball over the fence at the back of the fourth green on one occasion, thereby denying the team the use of a double points score on a hole for the rest of the round. Not a popular move!

I look forward to catching up with the series of tips and aids on rules and etiquette which Tristan McIllroy and Louis Laville are sending us. Please check these out when you have a moment.
