Croquet Communique

Croquet continues with doubles play now permitted. We must continue to follow all Covid 19 guidance. We have welcomed several new players from within the Club to the lawns and they are enjoying the experience.

Although, there was a ‘social distancing’ issue on Tuesday, when a mother brought her seven children to the Lawns!

Summer Competitions

Internal Competitions – the Competitions Sub-Committee met last week and decided that, given the demand, that we would redraw and arrange all the ‘summer’ internal tournaments, albeit with some changes in format of certain Association Croquet competitions.  Whites will not be required for Competition Play at this time.

A communique will be sent out this week to be read along with the revised draws.  The draws will be sent by email to each player by Lynn Pearcy.

External Competitions and Friendly Matches there has been much discussion in the Croquet World regarding National Competitions. Views are many and varied.

Some clubs have decided to withdraw from all events others, including Roehampton Club, are in discussion to see if any revised formats are possible this year.

We hope to go ahead with the Ranelagh Cup towards the end of July.

There will be no SECF League matches this year. All Roehampton Club-friendly AC and GC Matches up to mid-July are cancelled. The situation regarding later matches will be reviewed in early July.

Mallet Loan

The protocol for borrowing a mallet has changed.

People wishing to borrow a mallet should collect it from Security at the Front Gate and return it back to the Front Gate, after use. The Security Team will clean and disinfect the mallet before re-issuing.

My Mallet

Much excitement at the relaxation of the ‘shielding’ (allowed out for an hour a day), my mallet prepares to set off for its first walk in 11 weeks.

Keep well and keep safe.
