Croquet Communique

What a treat to be back on the Lawns!

Saturday 16th May 2020 will be long remembered. So many questions, where to find ‘my mallet’, ‘flat soled shoes’, ‘sun hat and sun cream’, ‘will the ‘back gate and the barriers to the car parks work’ and finally where is ‘my membership card’?

Not only have we been allowed back on the lawns, but the weather has been fantastic – to date over 50 section Members have played and we have had enquiries from other Members, who we are arranging to welcome.

There have been some updates to the guidance and booking information taking effect from 1st June – find out more here

Thank you

Thank you to everyone for following the Club Guidance and remembering to book by telephone and to telephone Reception on arrival, (the Club needs to record the number of Members playing).

The Next Step

We await guidance from the Government and the Croquet Association but hope that there will be further release of restrictions.

My Mallet

Mike’s Mallet, having taken a day off for the VE day celebrations, has now returned to domestic chores.

Two articles from the Sunday Times

Note the comment in the ‘Leader’ on the ‘drinking and promiscuity’ which led the banning of croquet in Boston in 1898!

Sunday Times – OK Croquet

Sunday Times – Hoop and Glory

Enjoy your croquet if you are able and have a thought for those players, who are, as yet, unable to join in.

Keep well and Follow the Club’s Guidance
