Bridge Blog

It was great to welcome so many of you back to the Bridge Room on Monday. I do hope that you all enjoyed the session.

It was really strange to hold cards again and not to be able to see your partner play the hand while Dummy. Hopefully, it won’t take long to get used to keeping a po-face again while bidding and playing!

The next face to face session is Monday 26th July at 1.30pm. I look forward to seeing some of you there.

For those who do not yet wish to play in the Bridge Room, there are two weekly sessions online:

Wednesday 2.30pm on BBO
Thursday 7.30pm on Real Bridge

Roehampton Club played Coombe Hill in a golf and bridge match on 11th/12th July .

Viv has written this match report:

‘For lockdown reasons the bridge part was played on Real Bridge on 11th July but it was lovely to welcome our friends from Coombe Hill to the Club for lunch and golf on 12th July.

The Roehampton Club team of Viv Harris, Peter Bonnor-Moris, Sally and Danny Gesua, Myles and Ellie Elliot, Libby Dand and Simon Lucas won both sections of the match. Sadly the golf had to be curtailed by Monday’s heavy rain and thunder and lightning but all enjoyed the match and look forward to the return game at Coombe Hill next year.’

As the turnout for Teams has not been great for the last three months there will be no teams in August. Hopefully we will be able to run one on the third Friday in September, 17th, possibly face to face, but if not, on Real Bridge. I will keep you posted.

There is a Golf / Bridge Match vs MCC on Friday 20th August
Start time 8.30am
4 pairs needed
Please sign up as Men’s, Ladies or Mixed Pairs by  Monday 2nd August to julie@juliebacon.plus.com
Match fee – £15.00 per player

Finally, the Summer Drinks Party will go ahead on 2nd September at 6pm. Please keep the date free. Tickets will go on sale in August.

This will be followed by a Chicago fun Bridge session in the Bridge Room. This is a separate event and there will be a different booking system for it.

I hope that you can all enjoy this amazing weather and I look forward to seeing you all either virtually or in person soon.
