Backgammon
With social distancing looking to continue for the foreseeable future it is unlikely that Backgammon at the Club will be able to resume anytime soon.
Consequently, please note the following:
♣ Croquet and Backgammon Event – 23rd June 2020 – cancelled
♣ 2020 Summer Tournaments – cancelled
♣ 2020 Annual Dinner and Prize Giving – provisional date Monday 14th September 2020
We are however happy to organise a 2020 ROEHAMPTON CLUB SUMMER ONLINE TOURNAMENT with participants using either Backgammon Galaxy and/or Gridgammon starting in mid-May. Depending on the number of people interested in taking part the format would be the same as the usual Summer Tournament i.e. round robin matches followed by knockout semi-finals and final matches. Matches will be played to 9 points. Entry is FREE. If we have sufficient entrants, we will split the tournament into Teatime Backgammon players and London League players, otherwise there will be just one tournament.
If you wish to enter please register with Chris at chris.bray@btconnect.com by 10th May at the latest. The winner(s) will receive a glass trophy. However please note the Roehampton Backgammon Club Championship Cup will not be presented this year.
Winter Knockout Tournament
This is being concluded online. The final will be between Peter Trueman (the current holder) and Tony Taylor. We wish them both luck!
London League
No decision has yet been made with regard to completing the 2019-2020 season but it looks increasingly likely that we will have to declare this season null and void and start again in the autumn (hopefully) with the 2020-2021 season.
