Backgammon

In the final of the Winter Tournament Tony Taylor defeated Sarah Adlam. Congratulations to both finalists. This means that Tony has won the last three Club tournaments which is an impressive performance indeed.

We now seem to be heading for a return to normality and the UK Backgammon Federation will be running virtually a full calendar of live events from 21st June onwards. By that date I would expect most Roehampton Club players will have had one, if not two Covid jabs.

We are planning live play at the Club from the start of July. From that date we will be running an online training session every Tuesday from 16:00 to 17:30, using the same format that we are currently employing. TTBG live play will return to its normal slot of Thursday afternoons from 1600 to 1800 – this will be a supervised ‘play only’ session. Most of the other London League clubs are planning live play from 21st June.

It is likely that the 2019/2020 London League will be voided along with 2020/2021. That means we will start with a clean slate for 2021/2022.

For this year’s Club Championship and TTBG Championship we intend to run them as live tournaments with the group stages from July through October with the finals in November. Can you please reply to this email indicating whether you would be happy to play in the live tournaments and if so, which tournament you would enter. That will give us some idea of numbers and assist us in our planning.
